Team complements world class technology with deep enterprise go-to-market experience
September 4, 2018 - Redwood City, CA—Interana, developer of the most powerful event data platform, announced its new leadership team led by CEO Greg Smirin. Greg follows in the footsteps of founding CEO, Ann Johnson who remains on the company’s board. Smirin was chosen to lead the company, alongside CTO and co-founder Bobby Johnson, as the company has expanded to support customers with some of largest scale and most demanding operating environments in the Fortune 1000.

Greg joins Interana from leadership positions at the Climate Corporation, eHarmony, Proofpoint, and VeriSign, bringing more than 20 years’ experience in the industry. Notably, at Climate, he was part of a team that developed the first AgTech AI platform to help farmers increase their crop output and profitability in the face of increasingly extreme weather. Climate Corporation sold to Monsanto for $930 million.
Prior to joining Interana, CTO & co-founder Bobby Johnson, was Facebook’s Head of Infrastructure Engineering, who was tasked with the responsibility to deploy the team that would ultimately scale the company from millions to billions of users. One of his team’s strategic initiatives was to build the platform that provided employees with the ability to ask questions about specific event data, generated by its users. Internally called Scuba, the platform was adopted by more than 50 percent of Facebook’s employees.
“When we founded Interana, we quickly started to work with large enterprise customers, including Microsoft, with innovative use cases across a variety of verticals,” said Bobby Johnson. “With Greg and our experienced team, we will broaden our customer base and expand our use cases. Interana’s new leadership team brings decades of go-to-market experience to the firm:
Jamie Aliperti is VP, Customer Success, with 15 years of experience. Prior to joining Interana, he worked on developing a pre-sales framework for Localytics, resulting in 60 percent close rates; he also led pre- and post-sales, which helped retain and expand Fortune 500 customers.
Matt Green is VP, Customer Operations, with 15 years of experience. He was among the first 40 employees at Splunk, and helped the company grow to 10,000 paying customers, a team of 50+ engineers in three geographical territories, and ultimately grow support revenue to $200 million.
Mark Frigon is VP, Product Management, with 20 years of experience. Prior to joining Interana, Mark delivered enterprise-grade behavioral analytics platforms for HP, IBM, Platfora, and Workday.
George Rekouts is VP, Engineering with more than 20 years of experience. Prior to Interana, George developed Efficient Frontier, a leader in optimizing multi-channel and auction-based digital advertising, which was acquired by Adobe in 2012. George also built and perfected industry leading platforms for Adobe, DemandBase, and Valuebase.
Ted Saludes is SVP, Worldwide Sales with over 25 years of experience in general management, sales management, and go-to market development in the tech industry. Prior to Interana, Ted held leadership positions at Hitachi, Unit4 and EMC, where he grew regional revenue by 300 percent.
Pete Sicilia is Chief Solutions Officer at Interana, leading the field, pre-sales, and customer success organizations - he has more than 20 years of experience. Prior to joining Interana, Pete served in various leadership roles at Splunk, where he played an instrumental role in moving revenue past the $1 billion mark.
Eddie White is VP, Business Development, with more than 20 years of industry experience. He has worked as a business development leader at Sentilla, Hitachi, and Pentaho. His leadership helped grow Pentaho’s business by 5X, which led to the sale of the company to Hitachi.
