Interana customers easily create and maintain cohort definitions to help segment their users. Segmentation can be based on behavioral criteria such as engagement levels and feature use, or simpler criteria related to demographics. Cohorts can be used in filters to drill down and ask targeted questions about subsets of users. Interana cohorts are dynamic and powerful; they are defined once and evaluated on the freshest data each time a query uses that cohort. For example, you can use cohorts to:
- Group users by time (all users who logged in during July)
- Group users by time and shared action (all users who logged in, viewed and commented on an article during July)
- Group users by time, shared attributes and shared actions (all users who identify themselves as over 6 feet tall and who bought golf clubs during July)
Interana users can create cohorts for themselves, and have access to cohort definitions published within their organization. They can copy and modify any of the published cohorts to better meet their specific needs. Users can visualize their data directly from the cohort definition by clicking the Explore button. This transfers the cohort into the Visual Query Builder using a Table view by default, contrasting the events filtered into the cohort versus unfiltered events. Users can then modify the query to continue their exploration. Interana can also export a CSV file with all the unique actor keys that fit within the cohort for additional action (e.g., marketing or retargeting campaigns). Lastly, cohort definitions can be directly shared with other via a simple URL.
